From Josiah Flagg (unpublished)
Petersburg 18th Feby: 1786
Dear Sir,

Your kind favour I rec’d the 17th Inst. the perusal of which, gave me the greatest Sattisfaction. The generous terms in which it was couched, Emboden me to do myself the honor of waiting upon you at Philadelphia, when I will make myself more acquainted and I hope Sattisfactorily.

An unhappy Lameness to which I have been subject from the age of five years, debars me of the opportunity of exerting myself as those in more active Life. The plan which I mentioned in my former Letter, you will perceive is the only Eligible step I can take for a subsistence; and Indeed the only prospect.

Nothing could give me greater pleasure than to do any kind of Business for you that I am capacitated for. I have the Honor to be your most Oblig’d Nephew
