To The Cornstalk (unpublished)

Brother,

Philada June 30. 1787

I have seen your Letter to the Great Council of our Nation, wherein you complain that the white People encroach on your Lands, contrary to Treaty.

The Council Fire is not now burning; but in a few Moons, it will be rekindled, when you may be assured your Complaints will be taken into Consideration, and that Justice will be done to your Nation.

I send you by the Bearer, Mr. Dramgool a Silver Medal, as a small Token of my Friendship; and I pray the Great Spirit above to preserve you and all the Beloved Men and People of the Cherokees, in constant Peace Health and Happiness. I am, Your loving Brother

B. Franklin

Mr. Dramgoole is esteemed by us as a good Man. I recommend him to your Protection and Kindness.
