From Arthur and William Bryan, Jr. (unpublished)
Dublin 15th. Feby. 1783
Sir

We beg leave to congratulate you, on the approach of that period, that is to put an end to the distresses of our friends in America, and at sametime, we take the Opportunity, of returning you, our sincere thanks, for the kind notice, you have at different times, been pleased to take of our applications to you.

Desirous as speedily as possible, to renew our correspondence, we are preparing several ships for America, one of which will be ready to sail in sixteen to eighteen days, but though hostilities are immediately to cease, it does not appear such ships with their goods and passengers will be admitted into the American ports, we have therefore again to trespass upon you and to request a pass for this ship, which is called the Adjuter, [Adjutor?,] Henry Wright Mr. of the Burn. of 300 tons, bound for Baltimore in Maryland. We also beg leave to lay before you, that we apprehend it will be found necessary, for the Commerce of the United States, to have in this City a Consul, with a power to Appoint Deputys in the Outposts, agreeable to the Custom, of other states, so that the ships of the United States, may in every situation, and in every occasion, within this kingdom, have persons of ability and weight to act for them, according as they may stand in need of their assistance, and as such, I beg leave, to offer ourselves, as long conversant in business and in the American trade, as much so, as we apprehend any in this kingdom and earnestly request your interest and support, in conjunction with our other friends in America which will confer a farther obligation on us, who are with great Esteem and respect Sir Your very humble and Obliged servants

Ar. & Wm. Bryan Jun

p s Our W B will have the honour very shortly after the rect. of this of paying his respects to you in person. The Adjutor will carry out a number of passengers, and many of them people of property, to settle in America
