Sir,

The Philosophical Society, at their last meeting directed that one of their Secretaries should wait upon you previous to their next meeting to know whether it was probable that your State of health would permit you to attend, and that the meeting should be held at your house for that purpose. If this should not be the case, their Hall in fifth street being now in some degree prepared for their reception, they proposed to hold their meeting there, and directed me to advertise accordingly.
