From Miers Fisher (unpublished)
Augt. 5th. 1788.

Miers Fisher present his Respects to Dr. Franklin and thanks him for the two Volumes of the Transactions of the French Academy which he was so obliging as to lend him and which he now returns. The Memoirs upon Paper-manufacture appear to have been only introductory of the present Mode in America, from Holland into France and throw no new Light upon the Subject; they are however of Use as they shew the Occasion and Cause of the great Improvements which were made in this Manufacture by Means of apparent disadvantages which the Uncertainty of Wind-Paper-Mills at first subjected them to in Holland. Mr. F. send herewith a Ream of Letter Paper lately manufactured at Brandywine Mills which he thinks somewhat better than the last he sent for Dr. Franklins Inspection and begs his Acceptance of it hoping it may meet his Approbation as an Improvement in the American Fabric of this useful Article.
