Bland, Theodorick (1742-1790)

Virginia physician, planter, and Congressman.

Practiced medicine in Virginia (1764-71). Captain in Virginia cavalry (1776). Colonel in Continental Army (1779). Member of Continental Congress (1780-83), Virginia House of Delegates (1786-88), and U.S. House of Representatives (1789-90). Antifederalist.

Son of Theodorick and Frances (Bolling) Brand of Prince George County, Virginia. Educated at the University of Edinburgh (M.D., 1763). Married Martha Dangerfield.
