Massachusetts privateer.

Reputedly commanded a privateer in the Seven Years’ War. Commander of the General Mifflin (October 1776). Sailed from Boston as part of John Manley’s squadron (May 1777). Took at least six prizes en route to Brest (July 1777). Returned to Boston and published a letter defending French treatment of American naval crews (November 1777).

Described as “upwards of sixty years of age [and] rather lame” (1777).
