Connected with the papermaking factory at Langlée, outside of Montargis, the first in France to use Dutch-style cylinders instead of gigantic pestles to break down rags.

Hoped that Franklin would visit the factory, which was funded in large part by the duc d’Orléans, who purchased the site, and whose maître d’hotel, Chanteaubrun, was in partnership with the operation’s founder, Jean- Baptiste Gastumeau.
