Bossut, Charles, abbé (1730-1814)

French mathematician.

Professor of mathematics at the engineering college in Mézières (1752). Member of the Académie des sciences; adjoint géomètre (1768). Author of Traité d’hydronamique (1772) and Cours complet de mathématiques (7 vols., 1795-1801), among other works. Also edited the works of Pascal (1779) and contributed many articles to the Encyclopédie.
