Peirce, Jeremiah, Jr.

Prisoner.

Sailed as a crew member aboard the brigantine Angelica out of Boston (May 1778). Captured and committed to Forton prison (July 1778). Escaped to France. Served as first lieutenant on board the French cutter La Racrocheuse of Fécamp and was captured again (October 1, 1778). Released on his parole in Tenterden in Kent.

Probably Jeremiah Peirce, Jr. (1751-99), son of Jeremiah and Margaret Peirce of East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Married in 1773 to Mary Gorton. Died in passage from Jamaica to Charleston, South Carolina.
