Coleman, William (1704-1769)

Philadelphia merchant.

A founding member of the Junto, Coleman was a close friend of Franklin.

Held a variety of public posts, including justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court (1758). Involved in the Library Company, and served as trustee of the Academy.

Went to London to have an operation, and while there he visited Franklin (1767).
