Baker, George (1722-1809)

Physician.

Educated at Cambridge. Elected Fellow of the Royal Society (1762). Named physician to the King and Queen of England. Created a baronet (1776).

One of the most prominent English doctors of his day, Baker became especially well known for his work on lead poisoning.

Elected president of the College of Physicians nine times (1785-95).
