Gruner, Abraham Rodolph (b. 1742)

Dealer in books and pictures.

Offered to serve in the United States (1777).

An artist of sorts, he asked to dedicate to the commissioners a picture he intended to have engraved and published (1778).

Condemned for forgery. Fled to Switzerland and traveled in India and China.

Grandson of Johann Rudolph Gruner, a well known pastor who had written a two-volume history of Berne.
