Greenleaf, Thomas (1755-1798)

American printer and privateer.

Apprenticed to Isaiah Thomas; briefly managed a Boston printing house (1773-75). Lieutenant of marines on the Angelica. Captured by the British and committed to Forton Prison (1778); escaped (c. December 1779). Served on privateers (1780-82). Published the Boston Magazine (1784-85). Settled in New York (1785), where he published the Anti-Federalist New-York Journal.

Son of Joseph and Abigail (Payne) Greenleaf of Abington, Massachusetts. Married Anna Quackenbos (1791); four children.
