French soldier.

By his own account, served in the military for twenty years and was a captain for six of them. Recruited as a lieutenant colonel in the American army by Silas Deane, who gave him recommendations and a considerable sum of money (1776). Captured and imprisoned in England. Escaped (November 1777).

Sent a memorandum to the commissioners requesting money to cover his losses, passage to America, and letters confirming his rank.
