Izard, Alice DeLancey

Wife of Ralph Izard.

While in France, the Izards dined with Franklin and attended his July 5, 1779 party commemorating the Declaration of Independence. Following her husband’s recall to the United States, Alice remained with her children in France until 1783, when she received a passport from Franklin.

Born Alice DeLancey. Married in 1767 to Ralph Izard; seven children reached maturity.
