Burr, Aaron (1716-1757)

Clergyman and educator.

Graduated from Yale. Became a licensed Presbyterian minister (1736).

An original trustee of the College of New Jersey. Second president of the college (1748-57).

Interested in astronomy and electricity.

Close friend of Franklin correspondent Jonathan Belcher. Married Esther Edwards (daughter of Jonathan Edwards), in 1752. The marriage produced issue including United States vice-president Aaron Burr.
