Pollock, James (d. 1800)

Tavern-keeper and local politician.

Born in Ireland, probably near Coleraine. Emigrated to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with father and brother Oliver (later the American commercial agent at New Orleans) (1760) and eventually settled at Silver Springs, where he kept a tavern and held several local offices. Member of the Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, committee of correspondence (1775-76).
