Ridout, John (1732-1797)

Prominent resident of Annapolis.

Came to Maryland as secretary to Governor Horatio Sharpe (1753). Member of the Governor’s Council (1760). Friend of George Washington. Did not participate in the Revolution.

Half-brother of Thomas Ridout. Educated at Oxford. Married Mary Ogle in 1765.
