Shervington, William (c. 1689-1763)

Antigua clergyman and schoolmaster.

Author of Occasional Poems (1749), printed by Franklin’s partner Thomas Smith. It was probably the first book printed at St. John’s, Antigua.

Son of Robert Shervington, merchant, of Kilkenny, Ireland. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin (B.A. 1712). Married Catherine Toole (1751); two children.
