Sloper, William (1709-1789)

Member, British Board of Trade.

Member of Parliament (1747-56). Political ally of Henry Fox. Served on Board of Trade (1756-61). Stepped to down to accept sinecure office, deputy paymaster of the forces at Gibraltar (1761-89).

Son of William and Rebecca (Abbott) Sloper of Berkshire, England. Educated at Westminster and Trinity College, Cambridge. Married Catherine Hunter (1728); two sons.
