Friend of William Temple Franklin and Benjamin Franklin Bache.

Lived in France with his family for much of the American Revolution. Returned to England (1784) before emigrating to America (1785), where he eventually settled in Kentucky.

Born in England, son of William Alexander. Fathered three sons.
