Colomb, Pierre (b. 1754)

Major in the American service.

Gendarme (1766-75). Went to America (1776), where he was named captain (1778). Captured at Savannah in December 1778.

In poor health, left for France (November 1779). Sought Franklin’s assistance in procuring his exchange and helping him to return to the United States (1782). Served in the French service during the French Revolution. Retired for health reasons (1794).

Born in Nîmes.
