Trotter, Joseph (fl. 1753-1778)

Philadelphia public official.

Member of Pennsylvania assembly (1739-41?, 1753). Treasurer, tax collection committee (1754). Member of Fellowship Fire Company. Probably one of the Quaker family of Trotters, which included several Josephs, that resided in Philadelphia throughout the eighteenth century; a Joseph Trotter, Jr. was disowned for disunity by the Philadelphia meeting (1764).
