Madocks, John (c. 1723-94)

London lawyer.

Called to the bar (1749). William Whately’s counsel in his chancery suit against Franklin (1774). King’s Counsel (1776). Member of Parliament for Westbury (1786-90).

Son of William and Anne (Pluestone) Madocks of Llay, Denbyshire. Educated at Lincoln’s Inn and the Middle Temple. Married Frances Whitechurch in 1758; three sons.
