Fisher, Daniel (fl. 1720-1755)

Secretary, diarist, and favor seeker.

English. Visited America (1722). Settled in Williamsburg, Virginia (1750). Visited Philadelphia (May-August 1755). Protégé of Franklin, who entertained Fisher several times, gave him secretarial jobs, and promised to recommend him for a teaching position at the English school of the Academy of Philadelphia. Returned to Williamsburg; later settled at York. Best known for diary of his 1755 visit to Philadelphia.
