Garthshore, Maxwell (1732-1812)

London physician.

Served a medical apprenticeship in Edinburgh and worked briefly as a surgeon’s mate in the army. Practiced in Uppingham (1756-64) and later in London. Physician to the British Lying-in Hospital. Fellow of the Royal Society.

Son of Rev. George Garthshore of Kirkcudbright, Scotland. Educated at Edinburgh (M.D. 1764). Married twice; one son.
