Jenkins, John (1751-1827)

Revolutionary soldier, pioneer, and surveyor.

Leader among Connecticut settlers in the Wyoming valley in northeastern Pennsylvania. The area was the subject of a bitter boundary dispute between Pennsylvania and Connecticut in the late 18th century.

Brought before the Pennsylvania Supreme Executive Council (of which Franklin was then president) to answer for charges of brutality against Pennsylvania settlers (1786).

Born in New London, Connecticut. Married in 1778 to Bethiah Harris.
