Ballainvilliers, Simon-Charles, baron de (1760-1835)

French magistrate. Won a prestigious literary prize at the age of sixteen. Briefly served in the King’s musketeers. At the age of seventeen, he was an avocat du roi and a conseiller au parlement. Two years later, he became maître des requêtes (c. 1779). Named intendant of Languedoc (1786).

Emigrated during the French Revolution, and became intendant général of the armée des princes in Belgium. Following the Revolution, he served as conseiller d’état and chancelier of the comte d’Artois. Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur (1814).
