Inventor of a method of milling flour cheaply called “la moûture économique” or “à la lyonnaise.”

In charge of supplying bread to the general hospital in Paris, he provided a better quality of bread than before at a lower price. Member of the Société d’agriculture de Paris. Author of Manuel du meunier et du constructeur de moulins …, first published in 1775 and then reissued in an expanded two-volume edition in 1791. Also the author of Traité pratique de la conservation des grains, des farines et des étuves domestiques (Paris, 1783) and Mémoire sur les moyens de perfectionner les moulins et sur la mouture économique (Paris, 1786).
