Scott, Helenus (1760-1821)

Physician.

Studied medicine at Edinburgh (1777-79). Offered his services to the American cause. Franklin denied his request for a passport and discouraged his proposed voyage to America.

Entered the medical service of the East India Company and served for thirty years. Created M.D. by the University of Aberdeen (1797).

After his return to England, he practiced at Bath and at London.

Born in Dundee.
