Littlepage, Lewis (1762-1802)

Would-be diplomat; adventurer.

Left school in America to pursue a career under the patronage of John Jay. He arrived in France in 1779 and joined Jay’s household in Madrid the following November. Littlepage took up the life of a soldier and had a falling out with Jay.

In 1786, he was appointed chamberlain to the King of Poland. He spent most of the next fifteen years in that country, returning to Virginia shortly before his death.
