Deane, William (d. 1793)

A solicitor and officer in the Irish Court of Chancery.

He was also an amateur scientist and one of the owners of a factory that manufactured bottles and glass for windows. Received a B.A. (1757) and an honorary L.L.D. (1779) from Trinity College. A founding member of the Royal Irish Academy. Franklin befriended him during his visit to Ireland in 1771.
