Francis, Tench, Jr. (1730-1800)

Merchant of Philadelphia.

Subscribed to Revolutionary causes. Served in various Philadelphia battalions as both a private and an officer (1775-81). First cashier of the Bank of North America.

Born in Talbot County, Maryland. Son of the distinguished attorney Tench Francis, who later became attorney general of Pennsylvania and was a subscriber to the Philadelphia Academy. Married Anne Shippen (1762); nine children.
