Solicited Franklin’s protection and aid in the creation of an international cultural center for the arts and sciences, the Agence générale de correspondance pour les sciences et les arts.

The center’s weekly publication, the Nouvelles de la République des sciences et des arts, as well as its supplement, Salon de la correspondence pour les sciences et les arts, were published from 1779 to 1788.

Wrote a history of French artists and painters: Essai d’un tableau historique des peintres de l’Ecole française depuis Jean Cousin jusqu’en 1783 (1783).
