Militia captain in St. Domingue (1769). Breveted major in the American army (1776), where he served until he resigned his commission (1779).

Captured aboard the Eagle during his return trip to France. Asked Franklin to intervene with de Sartine on his behalf (1780).

Served in the Dutch East Indies from 1782 or 1784 to 1788. Made a member of the Society of the Cincinnati (1789). Shortly before his death, served as captain in a French infantry regiment (1792).

Born in Marseilles.
