Eyre, Francis (1722-1797)

Attorney in London who specialized in colonial and mercantile business. Franklin’s solicitor in London during the hearings on the nineteen Pennsylvania Acts of Assembly that had been passed in 1758 and 1759 (1760).

Amassed a considerable fortune as part- owner of privateering ships in the Seven Years’ War. Invested in estates in Jamaica and in England. Member of Parliament supporting the North ministry (1774-75, 1780-84).
