Hall, William (b. c. 1751)

Philadelphia printer.

Eldest son of David Hall, Franklin’s journeyman and partner in the printing firm of Franklin & Hall (1748-66).

He and his brother David inherited their father’s share in the firm of Hall & Sellers (December 1772). Prepared a full record of Franklin’s account with David Hall’s estate (January 1773).

He and his brother apparently did not recognize Franklin’s copyright claim to half the income from the Gazette, and their disagreement with him seems to have continued until Franklin’s death.
