Tissot, François-Léonard-Pierre-Auguste (1732-1810)

Retired soldier.

Colonel in the Dutch army. Retired to Geneva (1775). Published Cahiers militaires portatifs, contenant une nouvelle idée sur le génie et plusieurs autres pièces intéressantes (1778), which was reprinted in England.

Forwarded to Franklin a proposal which advertised his forthcoming Cahiers as a military textbook. Offered to come to Paris at the commissioners’ expense so they could examine and possibly purchase the manuscript (1777).

Born in Grancy, Switzerland. Alternate form of the name: Tissot Grenus.
