Cailhava d’Estandoux, Jean-François de (1731-1813)

French dramatist.

Author of numerous plays, most notably L’Egoïsme (1777), and of critical works, including L’Art de la Comédie (4 vols., 1772) and two volumes on Molière. Member (1780) and later president of the Musée de Paris; was expelled as a result of his quarrel with Court de Gebelin and founded a rival organization, Le Musée français.
