Knox, William (1732-1810)

British colonial official and pamphleteer.

Lived in Georgia (1757-61). Georgia’s agent in England until the Georgia assembly dismissed him for his support of the Stamp Act (1765).

Exerted a great influence over British policy in North America as undersecretary of state for the American colonies (1770-82).
