Franklin, Benjamin (1650-1727)

Uncle of Franklin.

A dyer by trade, Franklin worked in Ecton and London before moving to Boston (1715).

Wrote several poems to his nephew on subjects including poetry, filial duly, and, upon hearing of young Benjamin’s interest in martial pursuits, the sorrows of warfare.

Born in Ecton, England. Married in 1683 to Hannah Welles; one son, Samuel Franklin, survived childhood.
