Morris, Eleanor

Franklin’s cousin.

Benjamin Franklin Sr. wrote that Eleanor “Has a charming tongue, is of a very obliging carriage free in her promises but far from endeavours to perform them.” Met Franklin in London (1758). Franklin ceded his claim to a share of their cousin Mary Fisher’s estate to Eleanor Morris and another impoverished, elderly cousin, Anne Farrow (1759). Eleanor may later have lived with Anne Farrow’s daughter, Hannah Walker, and her family in London.

Daughter of John and Hannah (Franklin) Morris of Ecton, Northamptonshire. Never married.
