Yeates, Jasper (1745-1817)

Lawyer and public official.

Chairman of the Lancaster County committee of correspondence (1775). Chosen by Congress as an Indian-affairs commissioner (1776).

Following the American Revolution he remained active in state politics and became a justice of the Pennsylvania supreme court.

Born in Philadelphia. B.A., College of Philadelphia (1761). Married Sarah Burd in 1767; had issue.
