Euler, Jean Albert (1734-1800)

Swiss-born astronomer.

Director of the Berlin observatory. Settled in Russia with his father, at the invitation of Catherine the Great (1768). Secretary of the St. Petersburg Academy (1769). Director of studies for the St. Petersburg cadet corps (1776). Published extensively on astronomy and navigation.

Son of the famous mathematician Leonhard Euler.
