Claimed to have shipped at Franklin’s instigation five munitions ships to America. The capture of four of these ships eventually resulted in his bankruptcy.

Abandoned commerce, and on the eve of the French Revolution published Le voeu de Paris ou démonstration de la possibilité d’établir en France deux seuls impôts. Later published the Journal de la municipalité et des Districts de Paris and the Annales de la Révolution.
