Boude, Thomas (c. 1700-1781)

Bricklayer. Built the superstructure of Independence Hall (1734).

A founding member, and the first Secretary of St. John’s Lodge. Senior Grand Warden (1732), Junior Grand Warden (1738), and Deputy Grand Master (1741) of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. Coroner of the City of Philadelphia (1754-57).

Father of Thomas Boude, a general in the Revolutionary War and a personal friend of Washington.
