Drage, Theodorus Swaine (c. 1712-1774)

Anglican minister.

Immigrated to Pennsylvania (c. 1753). Traded on the frontier in partnership with George Croghan and, later, John Hughes.

Returned to England (1769), where he was ordained and, on Franklin’s recommendation, dispatched to Salisbury, North Carolina, as a missionary for the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. Struggled with his congregation and was deprived of his salary by the Presbyterian-dominated vestry. Removed to Camden, South Carolina (1773).

Probably the son of Theodorus and Mary (Bowen) Drage of London. Married; had issue.
