Wister, Daniel (1738-1805)

Philadelphia merchant.

Of German ancestry, he was a political ally of Franklin, whose reputation he defended in the Pennsylvania German community.

He fell into debt and asked Franklin to intercede with his London creditors in an attempt to gain release from house arrest.

Son of John Wister, Franklin's landlord from 1756 to 1761.
