Brongniart, Alexandre-Théodore (1739-1813)

Architect.

Corresponded with Franklin with regard to the striking of a medal consecrating the union between the United States and France (1782-83).

Began construction on the Paris residence of the duc d’Orléans and subsequently became one of the favorite architects among the French nobility (1773). Member of the Academy of Architecture (1781).

Born in Paris. Studied under Jean-François Blondel and Louis-Etienne Boullée. Student at the Académie d'architecture (1762-65).
